Summary
Responsible for the preparation of restaurant hot/cold items, all banquet, outlet and cafeteria items according to recipes and specifications set by the Hotel.
Responsibilities
* Maintain a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times, while providing * personalized service to hotel guests. * Communicate effectively with guests and fellow team members. * Supervise and prepare the cooking of menu items. Production for breakfast, lunch and dinner. * Supervise and prepare dough, bake breads, rolls, desserts, pies, cakes, confection, ice cream etc. * Prepare specials based on products available. * Assist in creating new ideas or updating an existing menu concept. * Convert recipes and standard measures to daily requirements. * Taste and visually check quality of prepared items in each cook’s station prior to service. * Oversee the production of the kitchen during the absence of the sous chef. * Complete daily inventory or food items and ensure proper storage and rotation of food items. * Operate kitchen equipment following safety guidelines. * Maintain clean, safe, orderly and sanitary work area. * Train, direct and relieve lower rated cooks and pantries. * Train, direct, and inspect production list of lower rated cooks and pantry to ensure efficiency. * Set-up, serve and break-down of buffets and functions. * Provide assistance to other team members and departments to contribute to the best * overall performance of the department and hotel. * Perform other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management. **Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time**
Ideal Candidate
* Knowledge/Education/Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of related experience. High school or equivalent education. TB clearance card required. * Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: English speaking or bilingual. Ability to prioritize, organize and make good judgments. Ability to maintain good team member relations.
