Engineering Document Specialist

The candidate will perform systems engineering in the development, integration, and deployment of cross domain security solutions and other security technologies in a small team environment. The candidate will perform across the lifecycle from concept development, design, implementation, integration and deployment by applying diverse skills in system engineering, software engineering & administration, integration, test and system security. The initial focus will be on front end requirements clarification, design concept clarification, and system implementation planning to rapidly add new capabilities to existing systems or creating new system when required. Additional activity will include longer range planning for additional capabilities and technical refresh. The candidate must have strong documentation skills including technical writing skills and detailed knowledge in documentation formatting (i.e. a Microsoft Office power user) to assist with completing technical documents with an emphasis on consistent style templates for each type of IATU technical This position will have significant direct interface with customers and system users.

* Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility * Five (5) or more years’ experience managing or performing software engineering activities. * Systems engineering experience, especially in the areas of producing system specifications and design documentation. * Ability to translate user needs and requirements into practical solutions that meet mission functional and schedule needs * Ability to translate IT system design concepts and concept diagrams and briefings into full detailed design descriptions. * Ability to capture user needs and requirements for integrating with enterprise infrastructure and other systems. * Understanding of the practical considerations and issues involved in IT system integration, deployment, and support. * Ability to efficiently correct style formatting of existing documents, create document templates and consolidate current format varieties into one, consistent set. Ability to establish template styles for Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint (Office 2007, Office 2010). * Strong organization and interpersonal skills to provide customer support and support the team * Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in order to clearly and effectively convey issues and ideas to team members, management and customers.

* Technical editing and publication tools experience. * Experience leading/managing IT projects - Able to take on multiple ad hoc tasks while simultaneously supporting other system and software developers in design and industry best practices. * Familiarity with IT Governance practices, Certification and Accreditation practices. * Design, integration, test, and deployment experience with cross domain products and solutions (guards, one-way transfers, access control systems). * Practical experience in the design, integration, test, deployment, and support of IT systems * Design and integration experience with web service (SOAP/REST) based solutions * Design, integration, and test experience with client / server based solutions * Design and integration experience with common IT enterprise services: DNS, network infrastructure - (firewalls, routing), host environments (virtualization, Linux, Windows) * Practical experience addressing system security design (e.g. access control, identification and authentication, auditing, PKI) * Familiarity with digital certificate management/implementation * Familiarity with deployment, transition, and support considerations * Able to work independently with direction or as part of a team. * Must be a fast learner and able to perform independently in a dynamic environment. * Intuitive thinker that can contrive and implement new solutions to technical problems * Self-motivated, eager to learn, and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
