Summary
Imgur has a lot of servers- we are one of the most trafficked websites in the US (top 50) and we get over 60 billion image views per month . As our Director of DevOps, you'll have a pivotal role in building out and leading our devops team, you will be designing and implementing key systems, and you'll be doing it in a fast-paced environment where everything counts - security, reliability, and scalability. The ideal candidate has touched all aspects of a large production environment and is prepared to scale their own responsibilities along with the company. We are looking for a leader who is passionate about performance and scalability!
Responsibilities
* Develop and own DevOps KPIs to help insure site stability and performance * Continue to build out and invest in a world class team that is as passionate about performance and scalability as you are * Be hands on to help troubleshoot site issues, ensure system and network security and develop custom tools * Strategize with team to build custom tools and automate processes, as well as document system design and procedures
Ideal Candidate
* 6-8 years of devops experience which includes experience leading and growing a team of engineers * Strong leadership skills: you are able to assess gaps, strategize on fixes and rally the team to high performance * Expert-level Linux system administration skills. * Solid programming experience in one or more of the following languages: PHP, Ruby, python, or Go * Strong understanding of MySQL, Memcached, Redis, Nginx, and Varnish. * Solid understanding of fundamental protocols and technologies like TCP/IP, HTTP, SMTP, DNS. * Experience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, CFEngine), monitoring (Nagios), trending (Ganglia), network design, and backups. * Strong scripting skills in any common scripting language available on Linux. * Knowledge of best practices related to security, performance, and disaster recovery.
