Summary
The Chief U.S. Economist leads the North American Macroeconomic services group, takes responsibility for the timeliness, quality and delivery of the official IHS forecasts for the U.S. and the Canadian economies, and delivers the annual revenue target for the group.
Responsibilities
* The Chief U.S. Economist will actively lead the development and production of our North America macroeconomic forecast. He or she will maintain and develop IHS’s U.S. macroeconomic model, as well as other proprietary regional, and sub-regional economic and financial models. * The Chief U.S. Economist will also function as an integral part of the IHS global forecasting team by coordinating the North American macro and financial forecasts with global macro and industry forecasts produced by other teams within IHS. * The individual will also play a key role in maintaining and developing IHS's macroeconomic forecasting and consulting business in North America. * The role involves extensive client interaction as well as presentation of IHS’s economic outlook at conferences and in consulting engagements.
Ideal Candidate
* Ph.D. in economics from a reputable institution. **Required Experience:** * Minimum 10 years of extensive hand-on experience in economic forecasting and consulting across a broad range of markets and industries is required. * We are looking for a highly skilled individual, with extensive experience in developing, maintaining and utilizing complex macroeconomic forecasting models and related processes for the North American economy and financial markets, as well as flexible statistical and econometric skills to undertake customized product and market forecasting for a broad range of customers. * Candidate should also have deep understanding of the U.S. monetary and fiscal policy environment and experience in reporting on view relating to key policy decisions to clients and the media. Very strong presentation skills are necessary.
