Summary
This full time contract position is located in the Business Systems Operations Database Group (JSOD) located within the IT Department. This position is responsible for providing enterprise Oracle Database support in a dynamic team environment. This position will be supporting both 11g and 12c environments across multiple networks and in multiple configurations to include RAC and Exadata. This position is located at HQ in Portland, OR.
Responsibilities
* Perform Database Administration (DBA), logical and physical design, capacity planning, backup and recovery, data integrity, data/system security and monitoring of the ’s business database portfolio across multiple environments. * Support a mature, complex and highly automated Oracle 11g and/or 12c environment that includes Linux on stand-alone systems, Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Exadata engineered systems. * Monitor, assess and enforce system security and information compliancy and baselines for Relational Data Base Management Systems (RDBMS). Vulnerability and Information System Security management typically takes into account FISMA, NIST, NERC-CIP, WECC, Non-Coincidental Peak (NCP), Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM), Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and other cyber security standards, measurements or guidance as necessary. * Perform install/patch, troubleshoot connectivity issues, monitor performance and tune when necessary, backup and restore databases in complex three-tier architecture (client web interface, application engine, database engine). * Install, integrate, configure and use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 11g and/or 12c Grid Control. * Conduct performance tuning and diagnostics for Oracle servers, databases, and SQL. * Write and debug Perl and shell scripts to automate DBA processes such as monitoring/alarming, performance bottlenecks, batch scheduling, and connectivity failures. * Utilize Perl modules Database Interface Module (DBI), & Database Driver (DBD) and customize Perl module development * Utilize Linux based tools and knowledge of Linux internals to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve performance and connectivity issues with Oracle on Linux. * Recommend ASM storage configuration for maximum performance and manageability. * Perform routine database management from command line without the use of GUI Tools. Use GUI tools for efficiency when appropriate and available. * Design, implement and manage appropriate database continuity of operations plans and solutions. * Debug, migrate and extend functionality of current batch/automated processes * Provide recommendations for process improvements and technical solutions that can be integrated into existing environments. * Communicate with a wide variety of technical and business experts in both individual and group settings using email, self-generated documentation, reports and presentations.
Ideal Candidate
Education/Experience: NOTE: Education and Experience requirements are specific to this position title, for use exclusively within the organization’s IT organization, and are not transferable to other organizations. * Bachelor of Science in Information/Computer Technology or a closely-related technical discipline is preferred. * This is a level 2 position: 5 - 9 years combination of education, and/or work experience in Computer/Information Technology or related field is required. * 5+ years of DBA experience including at least 3 years with Oracle 10g R2 or higher is required. * Experience supporting on-call operations in a 24x7 environment is required. * Experience working in a large production environment is required. General Requirements: Knowledge of and skill in applying: * At least 2 of the following: Oracle 10gR2, 11gR2, 12c * Oracle SQL and PL/SQL * TOAD, DBArtisan or similar tool(s) * Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g and/or 12c Grid Control * Scripting languages including Perl and Linux Shells * Recovery Manager (RMAN) and DataPump Export * Oracle Database Resource Manager * Performance tuning of Oracle servers, databases, and SQL with an emphasis in the use of ADDM and AWR. * Exadata and RAC architecture and operations * Exadata patching process * Automatic Storage Management (ASM) * Exadata features such as Hybrid Columnar Compressions, Storage Indexes and Smart Scans including tuning to maximize performance benefits. * Perl modules and database connectivity Additional Requirements: * The selected candidate will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as a condition of the contract assignment. * Must be able to pass a Personnel background check pursuant for Public Trust (SF-85P), for which the selected candidate must qualify to hold or continue to hold the position. * This position may require minimal travel (approximately 10%) for meetings and to Field locations. * Approximately 10% overtime is anticipated * Upon selection of the assignment, the contract worker may be required to complete internal/external training to support assigned programs or software, software upgrades, or to learn new technology. * This position will include support of operations and maintenance, as well as 24x7 production support on a rotational basis. * This position may be eligible for situational offsite work, subject to the completion of a Supplemental Labor Offsite Work Memorandum of Understanding. * RSA token shall only be utilized when conducting work directly related to the API. Any other work is unauthorized. Contract worker is responsible for the safe-keeping of the issued RSA token at all times. If the RSA token is lost or compromised, immediately contact the COTR. All information associated with work performed offsite must be maintained in the network environment. No information will be allowed to be transmitted, stored and created, etc., on the contract worker's personal devices. Contract personnel must follow all and government-wide security, asset management, and cyber security policies and procedures. * Provide on-call and backup support for existing systems and functions. Location for on-call and backup support may be at facilities or off-site.
