The Medical Sieve Group in Cognitive Computing Foundations Department at IBM Research - Almaden is looking for candidates for a Research Staff Member in biomedical and clinical informatics for a new long-term research project on combining clinical and imaging data for enhanced clinical decision making in cardiology and radiology.
Research Staff Member applicants should have a PhD in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or related fields and should have had work done in mining of large textual corporate for extracting clinical semantics. Candidates with background in knowledge representation and reasoning, medical text analysis, natural language processing, correlation of medical text with imaging data, or machine learning approaches to analyzing large textual collections are desirable. Knowledge and experience with clinical terminologies and coding systems such as UMLS, SNOMED, RXNorm, LOINC, RadLex, etc. is a plus.
The candidates should have demonstrated independent thinking and achievements through publications in top quality conferences and journals. Proven programming in Java/C++, and system skills are desirable.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- At least 6 months experience in machine learning
- At least 6 months experience in Medical text analytics
- English: Intermediate
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- At least 3 years experience in machine learning
- At least 3 years experience in Medical text analytics
- At least 3 years experience in Java or C++
- English : Fluent
