Summary

IAT has an immediate opening for a Senior Underwriter in our Scottsdale, Arizona office. This role will be tasked with risk evaluation, selection, and pricing in a timely manner to produce underwriting while maintaining a positive image in the peer marketplace.

Responsibilities

* Underwrite individual risk selection for both casualty and excess business while maintaining a profitable portfolio to support the annual objectives as it relates to production and loss ratio
* Provide administrative support to Supervisor – Brokerage including but not limited to monthly reports, budget preparation, marketing visits, and the development of marketing materials to promote IAT Insurance Group
* Assist Supervisor – Brokerage in the training and supervision of underwriting assistant and technical assistant
* Supervise department in Supervisor – Brokerage’s absence and alleviate potential conflicts or problems as needed
* Travel to agents offices to gather information and provide underwriting presentations. Provide presentations via webinar as needed
* Develop new agency relationships and continue to develop core group of agents
* Serve as a resource to subordinate underwriting levels, other underwriting departments as well as agents
* Keep up to date with market trends in the E&S industry as well as standard lines
* Support AVP’s and managers in other departments with form development, form enhancement, and documents

Ideal Candidate

College education or equivalent experience in the insurance industry
7 years commercial lines underwriting experience with emphasis on casualty lines
4 years E&S experience is a plus
Completed coursework for designations in CPCU or AU is a plus
Strong computer skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a must
