Senior Data Scientist

We make it remarkably easy to book great hotels at amazing last-minute rates on your mobile device, for tonight, tomorrow and next week. When hotels have unsold rooms, they load them onto the app, which means incredible deals. We screen every hotel featured, and only work with ones you'll love.

In this role, you will own the Data Science direction of the company. You will spend your first 30 days identifying immediate needs of the machine learning infrastructure, with focus on setting up the ecosystem. We’re looking to quickly yet pragmatically get to a point where we’re shipping on this platform. Our main goals are personalization of hotels and optimization of our marketplace so everyone is happy!

* Provide the architectural direction and guidance for our growing Data Engineering team, in the field of data science * Build out our machine learning platform from it’s infancy, to eliminate redundancy and inefficiency * Use statistical modeling and apply ML algorithms to personalize and optimize our marketplace and understand user behavior * Drive a lot of innovation projects that are coming up * Bring a startup mentality - rolling up your sleeves and getting in the code

* Education: M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, other technical field * Experience: 5+ years in advanced quantitative analysis * SQL skills: Advanced; comfortable working with large data sets * Coding skills: Ability to produce production level code (Python, R, or similar language) * Data: Knowledge of machine learning techniques and advanced analytics (ex: regression, classification, clustering, time series) * You’re regarded by technical and business people as a strong communicator. You can break down technical concepts for anyone to digest * Demonstrated capacity for developing and understanding strategy; take some ideas and run with them, while developing your own hypotheses * Scrappy, hands-on problem solver
