Responsibilities
* Investigate and countermeasure resistance spot weld and MIG weld related production issues. * Support production team on all weld integrity related issues. * Supervise and control all weld quality destructive activity including documentation and countermeasure activity. * Research long term weldability issues, permanent repairs and design of experiments for new materials. * Ability to investigate future welding technologies. * Support engineering groups on large scale projects that impact weldability. * Implement process improvement projects, including project justification, planning and start up. * Support manufacturing equipment troubleshooting. * Understand product flow, and related new model situations. * Be the onsite technical expert for robot teaching resistance spot weld with integrated MFDC power supplies and MIG weld control systems. * Support global, regional and company initiatives and projects involving weldability. **Daily Tasks:** * Access and countermeasure previous shift weld integrity related issues. * Work on short and long term process weld integrity improvement projects. * Answer manufacturing calls in a timely manner. * Maintain and consolidate weld consumables. * Support production to achieve daily targets. * Monitor equipment run rate and support ESA to reduce downtime. * Analyze weld conditions, make adjustments to improve condition and monitor results.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience and knowledge of MFDC resistance, spot and MIG systems. * Also, must have the ability to lead medium to large scale projects. * Prepare and present detailed reports and summaries. * Must be self-motivated with the ability work with little supervision. **Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to supervise contractors and lead projects. * Knowledge of robotic and manual resistance spot welding and MIG welding systems. * In depth knowledge of weld systems and parameter development. * Flexible work schedule (back shifts, weekend, holidays as needed). * Hands on technical application. * Fluent in Microsoft Office. * Ability to train and mentor others. * Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLC). * Motoman robot experience. * Catia and Autocad experience. **Required Experience:** * Minimum of five years of experience spot welding and/or MIG welding. **Education Requirements:** * Bachelor’s degree in Weldability, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
