Responsibilities
* Research and approve Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Export Commodity Control Number classification of products, application of various government agency requirements, import and export regulations. * Respond to requests for export commodity control classifications, audit of Customs transactions and preparation of related disclosures, voluntary tenders, and binding ruling requests * Administer special trade programs such as NAFTA designed to reduce and minimize duty payment and support Honda initiatives such as C-TPAT * Ensure compliance with Customs valuation regulations * Conduct random audit sampling
Ideal Candidate
* Experienced in Harmonized Tariff Schedule and Export Commodity Control Number classification of products, as well as customs valuation, participating government agency rules and regulations for import and export of automotive motorcycle, power equipment products and related service parts to and from Asia, USA, Canada and Mexico. * Specialized training in the area of customs administration, in-depth knowledge of customs statutes and regulations with a proven ability for application in moderately complex business situations is also required. * Experienced with a proven track record of administering post entry adjustments and conducting audits. * General accounting or finance background (preferred). * Bachelor's degree in International Business, Accounting, Finance or Business (preferred) or equivalent work experience * 3-5 years experience in general accounting * 9-12 years (minimum) import / export and trade compliance experience with customs broker or industry (required) * Customs broker license required * Proficiency with MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access Level III or similar database experience a must. * Strong oral and written analytical, detail oriented, organizational skills are necessary * Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
