**Job Description Summary**
Under the general guidance of the Specialized Markets Manager, responsible for production of SBA loans, which include both 7a and 504 loans. Marketing focus will be to target loans from $250,000 to $10,000,000 in accordance with annually established goals. As this position will be focused primarily on SBA lending, the incumbent will work closely with the SBA Manager, and will act as primary point of contact for Branch Banking staff, assisting them in serving the lending needs of existing and prospective clients within the targeted loan size parameters.
SBA Business Development Officers will be responsible for independently, and in cooperation with retail branches, marketing SBA loans to existing and potential new clients, in small businesses, with annual revenues of $1-20,000,000. The SBA Business Development Officer will partner with the Specialized Markets Manager to confirm transaction eligibility, loan application and underwriting requirements and will be required to meet with and interview clients/prospects, analyze financial information, and underwrite loan transactions in accordance with designated bank guidelines. When practical, joint calls with retail branch representatives are encouraged.
Capacity to work quasi-independently with clients/prospects, under the general direction of the Specialized Markets Manager to negotiate the various and complex terms and conditions of all types of loans and to close such transactions. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the SBA Business Development Officer to maintain a strong working knowledge of the current policies and procedures established for Business Banking, including SBA lending procedures.
SBA Business Development Officers are accountable for the attainment of annual loan production goals.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**
* Works with the Specialized Markets Manager to identify and develop new markets within the bank’s footprint and expand lending opportunities in accordance with the bank’s strategic plan.
* Seeks opportunities to build relationships, working within the prescribed framework of policies and procedures to offer flexible and competitive banking solutions, including business loans and lines of credit. Gathers the necessary business, financial and personal background information required.
* Reviews loan requests and credit history. Assists with detailed analysis of financial data to determine whether proposed application meets lending criteria outlined in Business Banking Policy and Procedures.
* Prepares proposed credit outlines (pre-flights), including recommendations for loan pricing and terms, working in concert with the Specialized Markets Manager, SBA Manager or Business Banking Director and receiving concurrence from Business Banking Director prior to proceeding with in-depth client negotiations or “indications of interest”.
* With the assistance of the Underwriting Group, prepares well developed credit approval requests that conform to the required underwriting format and guidelines set forth in Business Lending Procedures, seeking assistance from the Specialized Markets Manager, as needed to ensure all complex issues have been adequately addressed.
* Maintains constructive and positive working relationships with loan applicants, borrowers, and their representatives, as well as referral sources, retail branch partners and Business Banking team members.
* Provides advice and council to customers on financing related matters, representing the bank’s best interests at all times.
* Communicates declinations to prospects and customers in written or verbal form as required by Bank procedures and Federal Guidelines.
* Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
* Actively participates in the local community and business community at large.
* Assures customer information is kept confidential.
* Communication transaction status with Retail Bank partners, as warranted, in a timely and concise manner.
