Summary
Participates in network planning, network architecture design and engineering. Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations. Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications. Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning and makes recommendations for improvement. Responsible for designing, installing and troubleshooting network risks and contingency planning. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of network management software; researching, analyzing and implementing software patches or hardware changes to fix any network deficiencies. Provides Level II and III support. Involved in the evaluation of new products and services. Selects, develops, integrates and implements network management applications for internet components. The Network Engineer III project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct. Supports the Information Technologies (IT) mission to provide quality service to our internal and external customers. Ensures proper tools and equipment are used in monitoring and maintaining server and database performance management. Performs other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
* Ensure switches, routers, and other applicable devices and applications are properly configured, utilized and maintained. * Implement SNMP Managers and other network monitoring tools with alarm thresholds. * Performs detailed router scripting and filtering to manage network traffic. * Maintains vendor contact information * Fine-tunes all SNMP managers' alarm thresholds to monitor productivity. * Recommends/ provides network upgrade and expansion solutions. * Creates a facts-based foundation for making the network configuration true load sharing and balancing. * Identifies network bottlenecks and improves network design to changing network traffic patterns. * Assists Manager, Network with operational and capital budgets.
Ideal Candidate
* 4+ years experience with design and support of enterprise wireless networks including: * RF design principles, troubleshooting RF connectivity, and 802.11n/ac protocols * Authentication protocols, particularly EAP/TLS, RADIUS and PKI * 2+ years experience with Layer 2 protocols and associated enhancements such as LACP, L2 ECMP, 802.1d/w/s, or 802.1x. * Experience with large wireless environments(1000 access points)- preferably in healthcare * Strong Cisco routing and switching experience. * Knowledge/experience in the following areas. * Cisco PI, LMS, ACS, ISE. * Cisco Wireless Controllers (4400 Series, 5508, and C3850) * Airmagnet tools(WiFi Analyzer, Suver Pro, Spectrum XT, VOIP) * Knowledge/experience in any of the following areas is highly desired. * VPN (GRE, IPSec/SSL VPNs,) * Global and Local Server Load-Balancing (HSRP/F5/HP Teaming). - Network management via SNMP/XML/Netconf **Education:** - College Degree and/or Cisco CCNA or CCNP - Wireless preferred
