Summary
The Senior Analyst of Business Intelligence will support the development of business intelligence tools for senior executives (upwards and outwards) created by the Business Analytics team and for other key functional areas across the organization. This will require an excellent understanding of metrics across the business (financial and non-financial KPIs), translating those KPIs into requirements, dashboards and report designs and will require the ability to serve as a “super user” of business intelligence tools when needed in order to translate those requirements into dashboards, reports and actionable information. The Senior Analyst of Business Intelligence will support functional and business stakeholders and IT to generate high quality and accurate deliverables. The Team Member will work with the Manager of Business Intelligence and the Vice President of Business Analytics, as well as other members of the Business Analytics team to collect, review and revise reporting requirements, designing dashboards and reports for development within our enterprise business intelligence toolset. The Senior Analyst of Business Intelligence will work closely with other business areas, either translating requirements into reality or aligning developed resources with other key BI functions.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with IT to ensure data requirements are executed * Work closely with vendors or other internal personnel to communicate functional requirements * Excellent understanding of IT capabilities and able develop reporting and dashboards with limited oversight and assistance * Either directly build or in more advanced cases oversee the development of business intelligence tools * Serve as a crucial piece of Hilton Worldwide’s enterprise business intelligence strategy, ensuring first the accurate and timely measurement of KPIs for “up and out” used to proactively deliver information and analyses that impact performance * Partner across the organization to drive the development of a centralized business intelligence organization that works within the current federated analytical team model at Hilton Worldwide * Leverage an understanding of Hilton Worldwide’s KPIs and ensure functional teams understand the opportunities for BI development * Use design best practices to best visualize information using BI tools * Replace legacy reports with new business intelligence tools working across business disciplines * Create storyboards for new reports, dashboards and BI tools, capturing requirements across stakeholder groups * Communicate requirements to BI Developers and IT to facilitate development * Develop dashboards, reports and analyses leveraging business intelligence tools * Partner with IT to ensure required data is available for BI development * Excellent understanding of MicroStrategy, Tableau and other BI tools as needed * Serve as the point person responsible for BI development for the business analytics tools * Visualize complex data using BI tools * Support weekly project status rhythms with BI Manager * Partner with IT to ensure business goals are met on-time and on-budget * Work across business functional areas to identify project opportunities and ensure requirements are met, whether by IT or other BI development * Integrate complex cross-functional KPIs across Hilton Worldwide to create compelling analyses for senior leadership, specifically the Senior Vice President of Business and Investment Analysis * Develop high quality reporting and analysis with a primary emphasis on accuracy * Leverage advanced statistical tools to drive metric correlations across key data sources * Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information * Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
Ideal Candidate
* BA/BS Bachelor’s Degree * A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Business Intelligence or Analytical roles * A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience * “Super User” competency with MicroStrategy, Tableau and/or other BI tools * Exceptional critical thinking and both quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems * Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making skills to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and to provide recommendations for optimal solutions * Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions even among seemingly unrelated events * Excellent written and verbal communication and comprehension skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex analytical topics to a wide audience who may or may not be familiar with analytics or the subject matter * High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook **It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:** * MA/MS Master’s Degree * A minimum of four (4) years of supervisory or management experience * A minimum of one (1) year of Analytical experience within the Finance and/or Hospitality field * Certification with specific business intelligence tools * Hospitality industry experience preferred * Proficiency with VBA and SQL
