Summary
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, Inc. (HJF) is seeking a Data Manager to support the Deployment Health Research Center at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) in San Diego CA. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to NHRC.
Responsibilities
* Manages and maintains comprehensive data, ensuring consistency, quality and integrity. * Creates and maintains incoming data surveillance, including descriptive statistics and trend analysis. Provides advice and consultation regarding implications. * Programs, debugs, and runs a variety of scheduled and ad hoc listings, summaries, descriptive statistics, trend analysis and other electronic and/or presentation reports with longitudinal graphs, charts * Conducts needs assessments, designs and creates databases for end data users, and participates in testing and implementation of new applications and/or enhancements and modifications to existing systems. * Develops alternate designs to resolve problems in acquisition, storage, or retrieval of data, utilizing knowledge of electronic data processing principles, mathematics, and computer capabilities. * Documents all activities with detailed Standard Operating Procedures and execute version control and archiving for programming related to the acquisition, storage, or retrieval of incoming data sources. * Performs basic statistical analyses. * Develops algorithms and writes programs to clean and update variables/datasets from numerous large studies. Runs programs to create final datasets for these large studies ensuring accuracy. * Provides assistance and training to data users. * Maintains current knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, systems and programs. * Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** * Ability to design and implement systems necessary to collect, maintain, and archive longitudinal data. * Creates custom datasets/extracts for end users. * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. * Ability to resolve data input, storage and/or retrieval problems and to design solutions and modifications. * Knowledge of mathematics. * Ability to verify data input and correct errors. * Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise. * Knowledge of computer data processing principles. * Ability to implement and troubleshoot programming changes and modifications. * Ability to create data capture and input specifications. * Knowledge of structured programming, testing, and debugging techniques. * Ability to interact with students, faculty and/or staff in a team environment. * Knowledge of database construction, management, and retrieval methods. * Ability to provide a range of systems training and/or support activities for data users. * Ability to analyze operational data requirements and to create and develop databases specific to requirements. **Minimum Education/Training Requirements:** * Bachelor's degree; **Minimum Experience:** * 2 to 4 years **Physical Capabilities:** * Walking, standing, must be able to read reports, labels and use computer, must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers, must be able to write, type, and use phone system **Security Clearance:** * It is a condition of employment with the Naval Health Research Center that you undergo a favorable National Agency Check with Local Agency and Credit Checks (NACLC) investigation which will include being fingerprinted. If a favorable NACLC is not received, your employment with the Foundation would terminate.
