Summary

We are seeking a Junior Operations Engineer to handle Tier1 support for internal systems, applications, network, security and hardware issues as they are reported by users, monitoring and ticketing systems. The Junior Operations Engineer is responsible for performing ongoing Tier1 support by diagnosing and resolving issues, maintaining applications/systems, and evaluating and recommending options for improving performance, maintainability and operability as well as being an escalation point to senior engineers and database admins.

Responsibilities
  • Provide initial triage and Tier1 support for all inbound Help Desk requests routed to Technical Operations group
  • Assist with first-line incident management, including quick and effective diagnoses, follow-up problem resolution, post-mortem review, and process improvements
  • Produce dynamic and digestible knowledge base content to strengthen our technical support Wiki and other internal documentation, policies and procedures
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware failures including replacing failed SAN disks, server blades, and networking gear
Ideal Candidate

You Have:

  • BS or BA or equivalent experience
  • Exposure to Windows (2008/2012)
  • Interest in developing scripting skills and improving manual tasks though use of automatio
  • An understanding of basic network topology and protocols
  • Excellent communication/documentation skills and ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Interest in learning and researching new technologies

You Might Have:

  • Experience with VMware, Active Directory, Cisco/Dell network/firewalls, chassis/blade systems and enterprise iSCSI SAN solutions
  • Exposure to SQL server (2005/208/2014) and Linux (CentOS) system administration
  • Exposure to managing/troubleshooting web servers, application servers, database servers
  • Ticketing system and/or Kanban board administration and management experience
  • PowerShell and/or other scripting languages
