Summary
The Senior Leasing Paralegal will play a vital role in leasing operations for the company’s portfolio of medical office properties throughout the United States. The person in this position will work closely with HTA’s in-house legal department and leasing and operations teams to execute the company’s leasing strategy. The position will have primary responsibility for drafting leases and will also play an active role in overseeing various legal aspects in tenant correspondence and compliance.
Responsibilities
* Drafting, reviewing and revising lease agreements, letters of intent, confidentiality agreements and a variety of other legal documents * Monitoring execution of leases and other legal documents – interacting with leasing teams and tenant representation for negotiations and lease issues * Draft lease amendments and renewals * Preparation of tenant default letters and coordination with outside counsel on collection matters * Advising, tracking and interacting with outside counsel on more complex A/R issues * Consult with property management staff with respect to contracts, tenant matters, and property management issues * Review and analyze access agreements, easement agreements, and related documents * Assist with entity formation, governance and other corporate matters
Ideal Candidate
* BS/BA degree and/or paralegal certificate, or an equivalent combination of education and experience * Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ law firm or in-house commercial leasing or commercial real estate experience * Extensive experience with commercial real estate leasing preferred * Working knowledge of real estate law and hands-on experience in drafting, negotiating and interpreting legal documents * Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and within a team * Ability to think strategically and take ownership of projects * Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines while delivering consistent, quality work product * Strong time management and organizational skills * Superior attention to detail, judgment, and follow-through * Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills * Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including senior management, outside counsel, and business associates * Motivation and initiative to expand existing skill set and take on additional tasks * Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
