Summary

The position serves as a knowledgeable resource in the utilization of data throughout Health Quest (HQ). This important role works closely with the Corporate Clinical Data Manager and the Corporate AVP of Quality and Improvement in system-wide efforts of creating and managing the data infrastructure necessary for streamlined collection and reporting of hospital data. The position requires a strong combination of skills including: organizational awareness, communications, engaging interpersonal, influential, and technical expertise. Employs data to continuously improve the safety, effectiveness, efficiency, patient-centeredness, equity, and timeliness of healthcare delivery to all patients through education and direct involvement in HQ performance improvement initiatives. Utilizes data to drive outstanding performance on key, nationally standardized metrics of quality and safety. Serves as data liaison to all healthcare services, nursing, clinical, and administrative departments, medical staff organization, and committees throughout HQ.

Responsibilities

Quality Data Infrastructure

  • Develops and implements methodology, practice and related policies addressing data utilization to aid in how quality and performance are measured, monitored, analyzed and continually improved to enhance patient care and reduce risk
    • Maintains knowledge of data management, performance improvement, patient safety, the relationship between reimbursement and performance, and the public reporting of clinical performance data
    • Develop a strong working relationship with IT and users to ensure data integrity and build trust in presented reports

Corporate Data Analytics and Management

  • In collaboration with each facility’s Quality Director, ensure accurate and timely submission of Q-HIP and Leapfrog information
    • Work closely with Risk Management to track and trend occurrence reports related to quality, patient safety, and risk events, while keeping within the appropriate mechanisms for information protection
    • Provides regular, timely, and well-constructed dashboards/reports to various audiences
    • Responsible for overseeing reports to validate and support numerous managed care contracts with a variety of commercial payers
    • Build out datasets to maximize utility using advanced data management tools (e.g., Excel pivot tables, VBA, Access, SAS, etc.)

Management of Clinical Quality Data Systems

  • Serve as the primary data system point person, responsible for data mining and validation
    • Work to operationalize and optimize data system functionality across various areas
    • Develop a strong working relationship with IT and users to ensure data integrity and build trust in presented reports

Ideal Candidate

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate or Baccalaureate in business or healthcare administration, or a related discipline preferred

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience using electronic data systems and sophisticated data analysis in support of system-wide clinical quality improvement activities. Demonstrated ability to use and communicate data findings to produce significant improvements in the quality and safety of care
  • 2+ years of operational system administration experience, serving as a system and business process expert, coordinating the functional technical process responsibilities including creation and/or maintenance of data tables and query-building with business processes such as worklist and alert creation
  • Business statistics or IT/Statistical modeing/Analytics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) designation
  • Experience in Lean-Sigma as an improvement methodology

Physical and Mental Factors

Physical:

  • Walking, bending, and stretching. Sedentary activities at meetings, chart reviews, office reviews, data trending and analysis. Travel to other HQ sites as needed.

Mental:

  • Ability to work under stress.
