Summary
The Senior Package Engineer position requires design and execution of brand vision, while balancing considerations such as cost, sustainability, and retail space. The Senior Package Engineer will collaborate with members of multiple cross-functional teams throughout the development process, including graphic designers, product engineers, marketing, and quality assurance. The Senior Package Engineer also supports projects and troubleshooting issues relating to packaging, including, but not limited to, the package development process and workflow, packaging materials and manufacturing, and sustainable packaging efforts. The Senior Package Engineer will also take on a leadership role within the group, by developing talent, improving processes, and/or leading creative development.
Responsibilities
* Collaborates with the cross-functional teams to develop package concepts to support structural branding development in assigned brands. Also collaborates with other Package Engineers to brainstorm structural packaging concepts. * Creates 2D and 3D CAD, renderings, and samples with related documentation for all packages in assigned brands. * Supports the package development process by establishing and managing changes to package specs, and troubleshooting production issues for assigned brands. * Supports structural packaging initiatives, such as process improvements, material qualification, manufacturing and cost improvements, and sustainability.
Ideal Candidate
* B.S. in Package Science or related field, or equivalent experience * 7+ years experience in designing consumer product packaging * Demonstrated ability to create 2D and 3D CAD, preferably with ArtiosCAD and Solidworks * Experience using cutting table * Knowledge of package manufacturing processes and environments * Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external manufacturing resources * Knowledge of and ability to estimate package cost * Stays current on packaging industry trends * Strong leadership skills * Effective collaboration skills * Independent problem solving ability * Proven ability to manage multiple projects and schedules * Strong attention to detail
