Summary
Harris ERP is seeking talented, motivated individuals to develop our innovative solutions for local government. We are looking for a candidate to join our DevOps team. Responsibilities include individual and team programming, debugging, documentation, and product support. You will be required to work closely with other software developers, our Professional Services team and our Client Services team. Some interaction with customers, via phone or email, can also be expected. Travel is not a requirement of the position. This is a full time position with benefits, including a generous vacation policy, and health, dental, life and disability insurance.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast-paced environment, with the product development and customer support teams, to find and implement technical solutions to real-world problems encountered by end-users. * Research never-before-seen problems using any applicable resources, with minimal supervision or guidance, understanding that internal documentation or knowledge of the problem may not yet exist. Identify and implement solutions and/or workarounds as needed, and create the necessary documentation. * As needed, create and maintain application code that meets design specifications, follows our standards, and is easy to maintain, including documentation. * Create and/or improve software installation and upgrade tools and processes. * Support customers with, or perform directly, software installs and upgrades. * Administer internal development resources including but not limited to build automation tools, continuous integration tools, and quality assurance and demonstration installations * Translates business and technical requirements into test cases, test scenarios and scripts * Provides the foundation needed to advance into our product development team
Ideal Candidate
* Strong background in using Windows and Linux * Capable of basic server and network administration (ability to install software on a Windows or Linux server, configure a Windows or Linux server to work in an existing network, etc.) * Experience with Microsoft IIS or Apache Web Server, including creating and installing SSL certificates * 3+ years of experience (academic or professional) with Java, C++, C# * 1+ years of experience (academic or professional) with SQL (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, etc.) * Experience with XML and XSLT * Self-learner, driven to find solutions to new problems for which internal documentation may not exist * Ability to multi-task and support multiple projects while updating supervisor and customers * Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools * Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills, and comfort in communicating with colleagues and customers
