Overview:
HarperCollins Christian Publishing is in search of a Web Developer. The Web Developer is a NEW position for the Direct Division of HCCP and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating the eCommerce platform on Magento for use across a variety of Direct division websites. Understanding the goals of the company to grow eCommerce revenues aggressively, the Web Developer will both advise and execute on best practice for eCommerce platform deployment to insure stability, integration with company systems, and superior user experience.
The primary responsibilities of the Web Developer are but are not limited to:

Manage development of eCommerce software on

Magento platform
-
Create and maintain reporting for eCommerce sales

Research and install security patches
-
Conduct quarterly review of currently installed modules
-
Develop new modules or install industry developed modules based on business requirements
-
Maintain best practices guidelines for Magento
-
Develop operational procedures for data upload, data extraction, and backups
-
Provide recommendations for user experience improvements
-
Provide superior code documentation, unit and regression testing
-
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- The preferred Web Developer candidate will possess the following knowledge, experience, skill and education:
Knowledge:
-
Strong working knowledge of HTML, javascript, CSS, and bootstrap
-
Strong working knowledge of API design, implementation and execution
-
Working knowledge of responsive web design
-
Working knowledge of git and JIRA
-
Familiarity with AWS environments
-
Work Experience: 2-4 years development experience, Magento development experience required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and/or equivalent work experience
Industry Knowledge:
- General eCommerce, publishing and/or marketing knowledge a plus
Skills:
-
Expert level proficiency in PHP, MySQL, LAMP

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
