Summary
Handstands, a leading manufacturer and marketer of consumable automotive products based in Salt Lake City, is looking for an individual to join its Creative Team, and assist in the design of its products. This person will need an in-depth knowledge of industrial design principles, current design trends, and the know how to leverage them in creating compelling CPG products that will meet and exceed market expectations.
Responsibilities
- Work with Product Managers and other members of the Creative Team to design new CPG products across a wide range of categories and within Handstands suite of brands. - Work closely with the Product Design Manager to identify new product and packaging design trends appropriate to Handstands target audience and brands. - Responsible for creating innovative, visually inspiring, and trend focused products and packaging centered on a strong understanding of design principles and visual aesthetics. - Sales support as required, including the production of marketing materials, trade show booths, and retail signage. - Graphically understand and evolve Handstands' retail brands and assist in merging the industrial design and graphic design languages into unified brand concepts. - Support and add to the fun, collaborative, critique centered dialog within the Product Development Team. - Interface with other departments to formulate a cohesive design brief and execute it in a timely manner.
Ideal Candidate
- BFA/BS degree in Industrial Design. - 2-4 years' experience. - Experience with the processes of empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping and testing as applied to industrial design, labeling, and package design. - Strong portfolio that demonstrates inspiring sketching, convincing thought process (tell us the story behind the design), originality, creativity, attention to detail and a thorough understanding of design principles. - Proficiency in Solid Works or other 3-D modeling software. Keyshot a plus. - Solid understanding of current Adobe CS products and the ability to utilize the programs creatively and imaginatively. - Strong ideation and concept generation skills. - Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and materials including, injection molding, blow molding, casting, basic electronics manufacture, and of packaging materials and processes. - Good grasp of graphic design across various platforms, mediums, and packages. - Mechanical design experience a plus. Designing for electronics a plus. - A proven track record of time management and of hitting deadlines.
