Summary
The basic purpose of the Senior Maintenance Technician is to troubleshoot, repair and perform predictive and preventive maintenance of the processing (blending, mixing and filling) and packaging equipment. Secondary duties include maintaining of mechanical system (compressors, boilers, HVAC, refrigeration) and any upgrading and installation of new equipment.
Responsibilities
* Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and perform repairs in an expeditious manner safely. * Perform daily, weekly and monthly preventive maintenance functions, including proper lubrication. * Dismantle, repair, and reassemble complex equipment during annual rebuilds on assigned equipment. * Performs routine inspections on processing and packaging equipment for parts wear and recommend/execute necessary repairs. * Identifies and performs modifications as a continuous improvement mindset to reduce downtime, waste, and increase efficiency. * Monitors and inspects all work performed by any outside contractor to insure work meets expectations. * Completes all required paperwork on a daily basis to include: work orders, safety sheets, work permits, confined space, inventory transactions and supply requisitions and data entry into the maintenance CMMS system.
Ideal Candidate
* High School diploma or equivalent required. Advanced technical skills preferred. * Minimum of five (5) years electrical /mechanical maintenance experience preferably in a Food Processing and Packaging manufacturing environment. * Experience troubleshooting and installing high speed industrial equipment. * Technical knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration, electrical and PLC repair, plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic systems along with general building maintenance. * Ability to maintain and repair varied types of electrical equipment. * Ability to work within a team concept. Communication and cooperation across departments is essential. Ability to interact professionally with fellow employees, contractors, visitors and management is required. * Project management – ability to see job through to completion with attention to detail in a timely manner. * Strong background in electronics and PLC controlled processes preferred * Strong machining and welding skills are desirable * Must be committed to company safety goals and work in a safe and professional manner at all times. * Must ensure compliance with all company Food Safety Guidelines but not limited to GMPs, HACCP, SQF, Quality, Sanitation, and Allergen Control Program. * Good attendance and dependability is a must. * Must be physically able to lift 50 lbs. * Must have computer skills to look up part location and availability on computer using maintenance software. * Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse workforce with production personnel and other mechanics and be able to explain mechanical and operational processes. * Ability to meet attendance guidelines * Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with all contacts both inside and outside the company. * Cleans and maintains work area both on the shop and in the production areas. * Other duties as assigned. * Can read, write and speak English. * Spanish speaking a plus.
