Summary
Responsible for the financial accounting of the FreeBird division in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and other regulatory and advisory organizations. Provide leadership and assign responsibilities; train, monitor and improve the performance of reporting staff
Responsibilities
* Oversee the activities of the division’s accounting functions for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports. * Execute the monthly and year-end financial closing process for the FreeBird division, including maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger. Analyze and report the current month’s financial results to HPPC management in accordance with format and time requirements. * Provide for a standard costing system and ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported values. * Oversee disbursement activities, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, and division payroll tax compliance. * Implement and enforce financial reporting and accounting procedures and schedules. * Establish and maintain internal controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company’s value. * Manage FreeBird’s fixed assets and capital spending processes. * Participate in the budget and forecasting process, providing insight and financial reporting as required. * Coordinate FreeBird audit and compliance activities with external auditors and agencies. * Document and understand the ERP system, and ensure accurate utilization by FreeBird personnel. * Manage FreeBird payroll system. Input and process salaried payroll, and oversee the processing of the hourly payroll. Prepare a variety of HR and pay data reports. * Participate in claims processing activities for property and liability insurance coverage * Maintain current professional knowledge of trends and regulations to ensure effectiveness and compliance for the accounting function. * Respond to the Corporate Controller, CEO, and Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis with accurate and timely work to facilitate their financial needs. * Perform special projects and other related responsibilities, as needed, to support HPPC business objectives. **Supervisory Responsibilities** * Manage accounting staff (2 administrative employees) for the FreeBird division. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. * Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance or equivalent * Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred * Minimum of 5 years experience with demonstrated track record of financial accounting experience in the consumer products industry; food/protein industry preferred * Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as with an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics/Navision and Hyperion preferred). Experience with Crystal Reports a plus * Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to articulate and relate to people at all levels of the organization * Strong technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus * Ability to manage and develop staff * Well organized and self-directed individual who is able successfully manage and execute multiple projects in a fast paced environment
