Summary
The Lead Inspector is directly responsible for the performance of the inspection team assigned and will perform the duties of required inspection criteria and leadership qualities. The duties and responsibilities of the Lead Inspector may be delegated to a qualified employee. However, such delegation does not relieve the Lead Inspector of the overall responsibility.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and direct the activities of all personnel assigned as direct reports, ensuring all inspections are properly completed in compliance with established policies and procedures and the corresponding inspection records, reports, and forms are properly executed prior to releasing products for return to service. * Perform technical research as required determining status/compliance of aircraft seat components/systems with latest revisions. * Serve as a primary inspector, exercising final authority in the release of aircraft seats and components. * Ensure all inspection tools are maintained in accordance with current specifications and calibrations as required, assuring proper records are prepared and maintained. * Serve as a contact point in order to resolve disputes pertaining to production and provide related assistance and counsel as needed. * Ensure all applicable records and reports are compiled and maintained as required by FAR’s, company policy/directives, and customer-required policy and procedures. * Schedule inspections of aircraft seats and associated components. * Coordinate with other departments in establishing and maintaining time limits and specifications for all time controlled inspection and overhauls. * Review procedures and work instructions with other departments to determine Quality Control requirements. * Be authorized to act on behalf of the repair station. * Provide coaching, counseling and guidance to assigned work groups. * Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality. * Must have the ability to lead people and accept responsibility. * Monitor and maintain attendance records of assigned personnel.
Ideal Candidate
* High school diploma or equivalent. * Meet all requirements for FAA appointment as an FAA DMIR, or ODAR per current FAA Orders. * Must be have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with a wide variety of people. * Thorough understanding of FAA parts 21, 23, 43, 65, 121, 125, and 145. * Read, write and understand the English language. * Five years minimum of experience as an inspector, 50% of which must be as a floor inspector.
