Quantitative Analyst

Energy trading and investment firm is seeking an outstanding quantitative analyst to uncover key insights in energy markets as well as assist in devising strategies based on them. As a quantitative analyst, you will have the opportunity to work with extremely large and complex data sets and uncover opportunities based on your analysis. You should have excellent technical, business and communication skills to be able to work with senior leadership to develop and define key business questions, and build statistical models and analysis that answer those questions.

Work with senior firm leadership to evaluate and structure potential opportunities. Mine and analyze data pertaining to markets and help design statistical models tosupport trade strategies. Build and maintain processes to monitor and optimize models and algorithms. Translate analytic insights into concrete, actionable recommendations.

* MS degree in Financial Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, Optimization, Data Mining, Analytics, or other quantitative field. * Strong experience in developing sound analytics-based models and algorithms. * Proficiency at querying relational databases (SQL) and ability to build and maintain processes to pull & integrate data from various sources. * Excellent programming skills. Experience with analytics tools such as Java and R. * Strong critical thinking and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to explain technical concepts and analyses implications clearly to a senior leadership, and be able to translate business objectives into actionable analyses. * Preferred Qualifications: * Machine learning experience a plus. * Professional interest in the application to the energy industry of database and statistical tools. Although actual energy-related experience is a plus, interest in learning is more important. After a period of orientation, must take responsibility for the development of conceptual hypothesis and reduce them to detailed, reliable analysis. * Guzman Energy, LLC is a fully licensed energy wholesaler with capabilities across the US.
