Summary
This position is responsible for taking a leadership role and providing strategic direction in the identification and execution of transportation initiatives across Greif operations. Areas of emphasis are carrier management, reducing cost, and actively supporting Sourcing, Supply Chain and Global Logistics initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Identify, prioritize, evaluate and pursue opportunities in alignment with the strategic, operating and financial objectives of Greif related to Transportation spend * Develop a sourcing strategy for small parcel, Less Than Truckload, Truckload, Dedicated Fleet, Intermodal, Rail, Ocean, Air and warehousing spend * Mitigate risk through carrier selection and set up, contract negotiations and insurance requirements * Develop and drive implementation of supplier generated cost reductions focusing on TCO optimization and track savings initiatives internally * Aggregate and analyze spend / data for all modes and select qualified, safe and stable supplier / carrier partners and negotiate competitive pricing * Establish key supplier / carrier performance indicators and contractual requirements necessary to provide all internal customers with quality service * Communicate transportation initiatives, pricing changes, project updates and other relevant information to BU stakeholders to ensure alignment with Greif’s overall goals * Maintain an awareness of best practices in the marketplace and initiate the implementation of appropriate changes within Greif * Work with commercial team on transportation pricing with customers and reduction of freight leakages * Work cross-functionally with key business unit stakeholders in driving and executing Sourcing strategies based on business requirements and market conditions * Drive the implementation and utilization of transportation strategies & preferred suppliers with individual plants and key stakeholders * Responsible for meeting annual cost & productivity targets * Lead the resolution of customer issues and supplier performance * Challenge historical paradigms and find new opportunities to further optimize Company performance * Support working capital improvements (inventory reduction, payment terms) initiatives * Performs other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree. * Masters Degree preferred. * 7-10 years Sourcing and Transportation Management experience. * Proven ability to lead and participate in Team Environment. * Strong analytical skills. * Cross cultural experience. * Excellent interpersonal skills. * Time Management and planning skills. * Ability to work independently. * Attention to details. * Problem-solving skills. * Superior negotiation skills are required. * Ability to drive performance and demonstrate leadership. **TRAVEL** - Ability to travel ~20-30%.
