Technical Service Representative

The GPI-Kalamazoo Mill, with 2 paper machines, is the largest producer of Clay-coated Recycled Boxboard in the US. The mills product is used primarily to package dry foods such as cereal. Adjacent to the mill is a large GPI printing plant. We are looking for someone who has expert knowledge in quality control to support the technial dept and customer needs.

• Interface with Mill Customers to answer question & address Quality Issues.
• Investigate Quality issues; determine root cause; assign department responsible.
• Write up customer claims when monetary losses involved & work to resolve issue/ disposition rejected or quarantined paper customer has at location.
• Work with Technical department on daily quality issues; review, disposition & work with production to communicate & resolve.
• Provide customer feedback on quality issues to Mill Managment.
• Visit customer plants to follow trials, quality issues or product development.
• Manage the complaint system.
• Manage specifications with Technical director
• Understanding printing processes such as Offset lithography - web fed, Offset lithography - sheet fed, Flexo and Gravure.
• Understanding Converting operations, sheeting, die cutting, and gluing.
• Understanding Specialty applications such as Laminations, LDPE-extrusion, Foil, and PET film.

Bachelor's degree in Paper Science or Chemical Engineering or related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
