Overview:
GrammaTech is seeking a Systems Administrator to become an integral part of our company and IT team.
This is a full time, salaried position with a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible true forty hour week. GrammaTech operates a diverse network of high performance engineering and development Linux workstations and servers, along with leading-edge Windows administrative systems. As part of a nimble IT team, support the use and growth of the company’s computing resources. Configure very high performance Linux and Windows systems, diagnose performance concerns and enforce standards of superior support, tight security and high quality. Directly support areas of IT security, networking, hardware and operating systems. Plan and lead complex projects, many of which are critical to the core business function.
50% Strategic projects
- Participate in strategic planning
- Lead significant IT initiatives
- Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to protect electronic resources
25% Development, analysis and tactical planning
- Lead the installation of new, or repair of existing systems
- Find opportunities then implement changes to improve systems and network configurations
- Provide mentoring for colleagues in support of systems and activities
- Actively participate in ongoing dialogs
- Plan for the implementation or improvement of systems and services
20% Routine operations, support and processing of requests
- Diagnose and correct hardware and software issues
- Maintain computing environments including operating systems and applications software
- Support engineering and administrative requests
- Monitor network performance and security
5% Other duties
- Respond to unplanned outages and abnormalities
- Participate in company-wide efforts
Qualifications:
Required

Must possess a broad understanding of Linux/Unix environments and in-depth knowledge of IP based networks

US Citizenship
-
Working knowledge of NFS, LDAP, TCP/IP, DNS/BIND, mail systems

In-depth understanding of IT security best practices

Self directed with strong organizational skills; able to prioritize across multiple activities.

Confident and responsible attitude driven toward continual professional growth

Superior written and verbal communication skills
-
Occasional non-standard work hours may be required
Preferred

Ability to write shell and Python scripts

Business Analysis and experiance with formal project management methodlolgies

Security clearance or the ability to get clearance is a plus

BS/BA in Computer Science or Computer Engineering

Recognized certification in IT security, Linux or networking
