Responsibilities
As a Backend Engineer on the Grammarly Data Team, you will work on constructing the Grammarly analytical data pipeline using the coolest building blocks out there and effective creations of your own. You will also be responsible for building out our code metrics, log collection, and querying stack, which in effect will enable other teams to build data pipelines for their services. Your ambition and skill will drive and impact our entire platform. If you want a big challenge, this is your next gig! **What You Will Accomplish** * Build internal real-time analytical data acquire-attribute-aggregate pipeline using: Spark & Spark Streaming, Reactive Streams Cassandra Kafka Scala * Build a high-load, big-data, distributed, no-single-point-of-failure, horizontally-scalable, lambda-architecture app * Build extensible high-load APIs and client-side instrumentation tooling * Build querying and visualization layer on top of Looker, Tableau and custom web-app * Perform integration to loop the analytical insights back to Grammarly product * Relentlessly work to optimize performance and data processing * Help to improve our development cycle, including CI/CD, deployment, documentation, instrumentation, and monitoring processes
Ideal Candidate
* BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience * Experience writing code in one of the following languages: Java, Scala, Clojure, Lisp, Erlang, Python, C#/C++, Go * Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) as well as a strong grasp of - -NoSQL systems (Cassandra, Redis) * Experience with asynchronous systems including message queueing (RabbitMQ, Kafka) * Experience designing and maintaining distributed systems * Experience building APIs * Experience crunching data with Hadoop and Spark
