Responsibilities
  • Preparation / review of multistate corporate, partnership and disregarded entity tax returns. This would include preparing State apportionment calculations and determining partner withholding requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of foreign tax forms.
  • Preparing quarterly Federal, State and local tax estimates and returns.
  • Prepare and update tax provision calculations.
  • Prepare quarterly REIT compliance testing.
  • Updating depreciation expense in FAS and external work papers.
  • Special projects as directed by the VP of Tax.
  • Stay current with Federal & State tax law changes impacting the Company.
  • Ability to communicate with Company employees, outside accountants, and taxing authorities.
Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years of Tax Department experience, preferably at a Big 4 or other national firm; or direct real estate industry experience.
  • BA/BS required; Business, Finance or Accounting degree required.
  • CPA preferred, MS – Tax or MBA a plus.
  • Real estate industry experience and knowledge of real estate investment trusts a plus.
  • CCH Axcess or Go System experience preferred.
  • Depreciation expense experience required. Proficiency with depreciation expense software (preferably FAS) required.
  • Self-motivation, determination and initiative in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task responsibilities under tight deadlines.
  • Develop best practices and establishes standards, policies and workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Yardi, and/or MRI a plus.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
