Summary
As a program manager, you will lead cross-functional programs that encourage and enable specific communities on GitHub. You’ll build a comprehensive outreach and engagement program across the globe that includes online content, in-person events, and strategic partnerships. You’ll create strategy, identify requirements, goals and risks, manage project execution, and communicate with stakeholders along the way.
Responsibilities
You have in-depth experience in open source and community building, with a knack for forging relationships and connecting people. You focus on bringing value to the community, but always keep GitHub’s brand, marketing, and growth goals in mind. You’ll use your project management skills to coordinate across multiple departments, including marketing, open source, communications, engineer, and business development. As the Microsoft Community Program Manager, you should have familiarity with the rapidly changing role open source plays in the Microsoft community and beyond. You’ll understand the developer ecosystem that surrounds Microsoft technologies like C#, .NET, and Azure.. You’ll identify challenges and opportunities to building a thriving Microsoft community on GitHub. You should be highly creative and exceptionally organized. We have big and bold ideas, but have more than enough room for yours. A great community program manager brings enthusiasm, empathy, and superb communication skills to be a champion for their community.
Ideal Candidate
* Microsoft development ecosystem, including languages, tools, and best practices. * Knowledge of community management and best practice as applied to open source software communities. * Developing community-centered programs and strategic initiatives, gathering requirements, and setting clear and deliverable goals. * Building trust and strong relationships within a community both digitally and in person. * Gathering, sharing, and championing product needs from the community. * Demonstrating judgement, tact, grace, and humor in high intensity community engagement situations. * Be a thoughtful, open, and organized collaborator, eager to build your own success as well as that of others. * Presenting at conferences, or other public speaking, on technical and community topics. * Open source technologies and communities. * Social media, blogging, and online community engagement. * Remote communication and working with a highly distributed team.
