Summary
Responsible for facilitating and the effective execution of Automation projects within all areas of the Wentzville assembly plant by providing continuous direct liaison between Plant Management and Manufacturing Engineering Vehicle Systems Engineering. The VS Resident Engineer will provide automation technical expertise, project leadership, and single point of contact with the Plant and VS launch team; while providing project coordination and on-site resource management services to VS central office. Responsibilities include ability to produce/modify HW & SW designs, perform functional validation, and buy-off for Controls and Robotic Systems during engineering projects involving tools & equipment in an assembly plant environment.
Responsibilities
· Assist VS project team during Tooling Installation/Re-verification. Assume project leadership upon buy-off, establishing course of action to complete the project. · Propose, estimate and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment. · Lead the design, development and improvements of manufacturing processes, and integration of plant floor control systems with plant floor information systems. · Evaluate expenditures for processes and/or equipment. · Maintain project costs and provides accurate financial forecasts. · Provide technical assistance and identify training requirements for plant operations. · Coordinate input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs · Keep abreast of current product developments and trends in multiple areas of expertise. · Actively identifies new areas for learning and to broaden technical capability. · Provide technical direction and project management oversight to suppliers. · Travel to supplier sites to support integration buy-off. · Communicate project status, results and lessons learned to VS management.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Required** · Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience. · Strong oral & written communication skills · High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult. · Broad and thorough knowledge of tooling systems and manufacturing processes across all areas of the plant · Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required. · Strong technical background in Controls design, integration and implementation. · Experienced in PLC/HMI hardware & software design and startup / debug activities. · Experience with computer based design tools and applications. · Self-motivated with ability to initiate and apply innovative ideas and concepts. · Project management and leadership experience **Basic Preferred** · Familiar with Automotive Assembly Processes · Familiar with Robotic, Servo & VFD Drives · Knowledge of computer software as it pertains to manufacturing and plant floor systems. · Controls experience across multiple disciplines including Body, Paint, General Assembly, Press, Conveyor, Robotic and Plant Floor Systems.
