Summary
The Systems Engineer will utilize experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for the business, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Responsibilities
* Focus on the remote controls of Locomotives and development of systems / solutions to increase the efficiency of Railroad operations * Develop creative solutions / architectures and define and document system requirements for new and existing products, via system specifications and technical memorandums * Participate heavily in safety analyses and provide input into system test and validation activities * Analyze customer data in order to improve overall system reliability and drive change to HW, SW and RF engineering * Provide technical support to Program Managers and Project Engineers when communicating with customers * Travel globally to support contract obligations, as required * Participate in the proposal process to ensure that sound technical solutions are offered to customers * Work closely with the commercial and technology teams to create system configurations differentiated in the market * Leverage cross-functional and cross business resources in order to maximize technical results * Supervise activities such as; field issues and failures investigations, root causes analysis and implementation of corrective actions, lesson learned issues, and consequently design standards update * Build solid relationships with key customers and suppliers
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications/Requirements:** * Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an engineering or other technical position) **Desired Characteristics:** * Prior experience in systems, design, controls, evaluation and / or Product Support Engineering * Knowledge of developing testing requirements for system validation * Knowledge of requirements management, concept of operations, and interface control documents * Strong PC skills including basic programming skills * Ability to organize, prioritize, and achieve milestones and deliverables * Ability to integrate work within a team environment * Strong project management skills * Experience with the rail industry
