Summary
This 1 year internship will support the GE Corporate Legal Investigations COE. The intern will provide paralegal support to lawyers and investigators with respect to global investigations, including assisting with research, documentation, file management, billing, data analysis, reporting and other program support. The Paralegal Intern will work with the investigations Center of Excellence (COE) and Paralegals on a variety of assignments.
Responsibilities
* Conducting research and data compilations for lawyers and investigators * Organizing documents and case files * Working with external counsel regarding case management needs * Handling document retention / document collection / document production processes for lawyers (in coordination with discovery experts) * Maintaining, updating and developing internal databases and IT tools to support needs of lawyers and investigators in global investigations * Assist in drafting legal and other documents and correspondence * Handling billing and vendor selection processes as requested * Assisting with other programmatic support, including training, conferences, data analytics and administrative tasks * Spearheading special projects as needed/requested
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university (pre-Law degree or course work preferred) * Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and interest in learning other computer applications **Desired Characteristics:** * 3.5+ GPA preferred * Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and concisely, working with executive level colleagues * Strong familiarity with Web-based resources to locate statutes, regulations and case law * Strong familiarity with Internet-based fact and media research * Proven organizational and analytical skills with extraordinary attention to detail * Ability to work independently and efficiently; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously * Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills including editing and proofreading * Self-starter and proactive problem solver * Team player; experience working in a fast-paced environment
