Summary
The Lead Hardware Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role, you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals within the Train Performance team.
Responsibilities
* Support whole life cycle of electronic equipment, support NPI, requisition, reliability, sustaining, and productivity * Work with system / subsystem teams to quantify customer requirement, participate in system / subsystem design review, review detail design requirement with local and global engineering teams * Participate in the design, develop, modify and localize digital / analog and mixed signal electronic circuits that satisfies the design requirement in railroad and locomotive products / technologies * Take the design into production by working with sourcing, quality and supplier; provide technical support for production * Fix reliability issue of electronic devices by working together with reliability and field service engineers, improve the design for reliability and maintainability by redesign / design changes * Provide technical support to commercial team for product promotion * Manage and support 3rd party Suppliers in developing electronic designs to GE specifications * Write and drive HW requirements, functional and environmental testing
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications/Requirements:** * Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of engineering, scientific or other technical experience) * Minimum of 5 years of hardware design skills in: * Digital design position: digital hardware design, microprocessor board level design, Ethernet and VHDL / FPGA design * Analog design position: analog hardware design(power supply, signal conditioning, AD / DA) **Desired Characteristics:** * Familiarity with railroad and locomotive systems and their environments * Familiarity with Railroad brake system and applications * Strong technical problem solving skills (DFSS and DMAIC) * Sound Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) background * Experience in layout and EMC * Experience in embedded software * Experienced in safety related product design
