Summary
The Test Engineer provides direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Responsibilities
* Give clear and concise direction to the work force when executing Development or NPI Engine, Rig or Component tests. * Review all test related ETPS and Engineering Test Requests and provide feedback to engineering if necessary in accordance with Test Request Guidelines * Work with Evaluations Engineering and provide written and verbal support during “Red Flag” review process on all NPI and Development Tests. * Maintain ownership of test cell/facility to provide for safe operation of equipment/ data system and instrumentation. * Serve as technical expert to internal and external customers regarding testing of specified engine model(s). * Design, engineer and manage project(s) for specialized test hardware specific to engine mounted specialized testing. * Interface with facility engineering on upgrades to test cells. * Serve as focal point, safety rep, and facility owner, to support organizations of the Test engineering group (i.e.: TFE, DQE, DIE, Controls ) when the engine/rig/ component arrives to the test cell. * Borescope engines while in test cell or test area (prep area, airlock, etc.) * Define the expectation of daily test execution/schedule and test completion and execute these expectations. * Communicate daily to internal/external customer through IOI’s or verbal communication in a clear concise manner * Help to give direction to test support organizations * Challenge engineering requests when they pose a threat to equipment, manpower, or productivity (safety/EHS/cost) * Participate in engine testing and facility operation for our respective engine/rig/component program * Identify the best possible usage of test cell/facility to obtain the most positive productivity and cost benefit to the customer. * The TEST Engineer will interface with the Evaluations Engineering group. * Evaluations engineering will provide schedule of engine release to test and will perform a yellow flag to coordinate all team members prior to engine delivery to test. * The TEST Engineer will interface with Test Facilities Engineering (TFE). * Help to coordinate all facility maintenance, repairs, and cell upgrades to the TFE Team. * interface with Data Quality and Instrumentation Engineering. * Help to coordinate all console limits, console display parameters and engine instrumentation lists necessary to run the engine test. * Interface with Test Operations Cell Leader. * Help to give direction to the team assigned to the engine test . * Not be responsible for the discipline of the team. * The TEST Engineer will interface with Internal Engineering Organizations (Design, Controls, Operability, Dynamic’s, Systems, etc.). * Help to work directly with an engineering group to clarify test instructions to enable the test to run in a safe manner. * Help to direct changes to an Engineering Test Instruction so the test can be run safely and productively.
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications/Requirements:** Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum 4 years of experience in an engineering, IT, scientific or other technical position) **Desired Characteristics:** * Strong oral and written communication skills * Strong interpersonal and leadership skills * Ability to work independently * Strong problem solving skills
