Chief Commercial Counsel

The role of Legal Counsel for GE Digital will help provide strategic legal support for the execution of this critical GE initiative in an effective and compliant manner. This individual will provide key support for the commercial operations of GE Digital as well as enabling functions with respect to legal matters related to all aspects of the operation of GE Digital. This role reports directly to General Counsel of GE Digital.

* Manage a large range of complex issues associated with software commercialization and sales of software as a service (SaaS) as well as complex software licensing. * Collaborate closely with attorneys in the GE Businesses relating to the sales of software application services running on GE’s Predix software platform * Other Key Responsibilities include: * Work with GE business and legal leadership to address effective critical legal strategies to enable fulfillment of our mission on a global basis. * Manage legal issues relating to the commercial operation of GE Digital. * Serve as a key legal partner as a part of GE Digital’s relationship with all GE Businesses, GE customers and vendors. * Work with members of the IP legal team to protect GE’s intellectual property while helping to grow an ecosystem of partners in the area of software technology. * Draft and negotiate various alliance, cooperation, development/sales/licensing agreements and contract transactions in the software technology and business development areas * Maintain and manage an environment to ensure compliance with company policies around the globe.

* Juris Doctor / Law degree from an accredited US Law School * Admission to at least one state bar or the D.C. bar * Minimum of 10 years practice experience in the legal fields relating to the development, use, commercialization and sale of software and technology solutions * Role may require travel (up to 20%) **Additional Eligibility Qualifications** * GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. * Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. **Desired Characteristics:** * Experience effectively participating in cross-functional business and legal teams in addressing and resolving commercial software and legal issues, particularly in the software as a service (SaaS) area * Experience in handling sophisticated commercial transactions and developing strategic and innovative plans for collaboration with key business partners * Ability to work independently and produce a high quality product * History of participation in professional associations and bar activities * Strong teamwork skills * Excellent oral and written communication skills
