Urban Designer

FXFOWLE is an architectural, interiors and planning firm committed to innovative design inspired by urbanism, technology and sustainable strategies.

We are currently accepting resumes for a full-time talented Intermediate Urban Designer for our NYC office.

• Research and analyze urban context including transportation systems, zoning, land use, population density, history, geography, character, environment, and natural resources.
• Work on programming research, zoning research, massing studies, orientation studies, and other design studies.
• Develop concept diagrams and 3d renderings to convey ideas.
• Document urban design strategies and approaches.
• Prepare presentation drawings and diagrams representing design intent and urban design vision for housing, office, retail, and mixed-use developments.
• Prepare schematic drawings for architecture, urban design, and landscape features of large-scale development projects.
• Utilize knowledge of building practices, design standards, and landscape practices, to complete designs and drawings.
• Utilize knowledge of land use, zoning, and master planning principles
• Ideal candidates will be able to apply knowledge of New York City and/or Washington, DC zoning regulations.
• Drawing and diagrams using AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and Adobe graphics suite programs.Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) software is preferred.
• Interact with consultants throughout design process.

• Professional Degree Required; advanced degree preferred with ideal candidate possessing joint-degrees in architecture and planning or urban design
• 5-8 years experience in urban design, architecture or landscape architecture
• Experience in master planning of mixed use developments, urban re/development and revitalization, new town planning, and Transit Oriented Development preferred
• Able to prioritize and multi-task.
• Must be proactive, detail-oriented and a self-starter,
• Must be hardworking and a team player.
• Must be professional at all times.
• Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Candidate should be proficient with AutoCAD, REVIT/BIM, Adobe Graphics Suite, and other related design software.
