- Be a leader: you’ll be responsible for managing a team of 4+ engineers with increasing responsibilities.
- Be a builder: you’ll build, mentor, and hire a professional software engineering team as well as build the engineering structure to scale and grow with the strategy and values of the company.
- Be a driver: you’ll drive company and project goals, prioritize resources and ensure timely delivery; you’ll help implement effective engineering processes and policies for sustained growth.
- Be a collaborator: you’ll be expected to forge deep bonds with your business counterparts, understanding their needs and sharing ownership of their outcomes. No tossing responses over the fence.
- Be an ambassador: you’ll represent Funding Circle engineering and management at industry events, and help grow our brand within the community.
- Be a teacher: be generous with your time and expertise; you’ll provide support, mentoring, and guidance to your team and help them reach their full potential.
Our ideal teammate has:
- 3+ years experience with management responsibilities for a software development team.
- Proven experience delivering mission critical, high value products and services.
- 5+ years experience as a software engineer.
- Familiarity with Agile Methodologies.
- Proven track record of building, leading, mentoring and developing engineering organizations.
- Experience working on challenges involving ETL, reporting, and analytics.
- Work within an 'event-sourcing' model.
- Experience working with open source tools.
- Experience working with databases like PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and Redshift.
- Familiarity with Hadoop ecosystem: Hive, Avro, Pig, etc.
Brownie points for:
- Knowledge of, or interest, in: Kafka, Samza, and Clojure.
