Summary
The Director of Events is a pivotal role for Frontline Education working closely with senior management to create, develop and implement a wide variety of local and nationwide events. The ideal candidate is an energetic, forward-thinking, creative and detailed oriented manager. This position is an exciting opportunity for a real go-getter who works quickly and efficiently on several projects at one time, is results-oriented, has strong time management skills and works enthusiastically across every project. With two direct reports, this position will partner closely with sales, marketing and other departments ensure every event is handled flawlessly, on budget and professionally.
Responsibilities
* Serve as the Events Team Lead for organizing and executing a wide range of special events and meetings including trade shows, customer user groups, internal and external multi-day conferences and in-market thought leadership meetings * Oversee all aspects of the production of events including content and agenda development, venue selection, contract negotiations, booking talent, marketing and promotional materials, data management, attendee registration websites, catering, hotel accommodations, staffing coordination, and on-site event logistics * Lead development of event strategy and preparation timelines, and ensure proper communication with all staff involved regarding event goals, responsibilities and shifting priorities * Work closely and professionally with key stakeholders, including executives and c-suite personnel, to ensure all event objectives are clearly understood and executed accordingly * Maintain exemplary relationships with external vendors and identifying appropriate new business relationships, championing the most productive partnerships for the company * Negotiating vendor contracts within strict budgetary parameters, tracking financial benefits resulting from negotiations * Create, track and manage event budgets closely, producing post-event budgeting reports * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to execute events including Facilities, IT, graphic design, legal, accounting and others as appropriate * Manage multiple projects simultaneously with precision and attention to detail while continually finding ways to improve processes to produce higher quality and more effective results * Identify opportunities for process and event management improvements and develop new policies regarding implementing new procedures * Supervise a 2-person team to implement the above-mentioned duties, and play an integral role in setting team priorities, project timelines and provide feedback for ensuring highest quality of event production * Continually mentor, coach, and develop the skills and project contributions of two direct reports; produce team and individual goals and conduct quarterly performance reviews.
Ideal Candidate
* Minimum of 15 years in event management * 10 years of experience managing a highly productive team * Thrive in fast paced environments with short lead times * Ability to apply sound judgment in new or ambiguous situations * Maintain a high degree of composure and interpersonal skills in high pressure moments while maintaining a solution driven mindset * Ability to formulate processes necessary to accomplish goals in the most efficient and effective way * Able to quickly shift project priorities as event criteria fluctuates * Ability to accurately prioritize problems/initiatives in time sensitive situations * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 programs. Understanding of Wrike Project Management software a plus.
