Buyer for Tomato & Vegetable Program

Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc. is one of the world’s leading vertically integrated producers, marketers and distributors of high-quality fresh and fresh-cut fruit and vegetables, as well as a leading producer and distributor of prepared fruit and vegetables, juices, beverages and snacks in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. .

This position will be responsible for assisting with the purchase of the highest quality produce, primarily tomatoes, in the most cost efficient manner profitable to the company. In this role, will also develop and maintain customer relationships as related to purchasing efforts.

* Develop and maintain strong relationships with a select number of growers/shippers to obtain the highest quality produce, at minimal costs, profitable to the company. * Coordinate buying efforts, and promotional items, with company sales needs. * Maintain high service levels in each Del Monte Fresh Distribution Center (DC). * Speculate in advance on market opportunities, enabling Del Monte Fresh to buy low and sell high. * Maintain constant awareness of market trends, technology and food safety. * Prepare and issue purchase orders. * Prepare market analysis reports. * Assist in other areas as needed.

**Minimum Skills Required:** * High School Diploma, or equivalent, from an accredited institution. * At least 3 to 5 years produce buying experience, preferably with emphasis in the tomato category. * Excellent negotiation, analytical and communication skills (i.e. oral and written). * Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.). * Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task. **Preferred but not Essential:** Bi-lingual: English and Spanish.
