Summary
A successful Accounting Manager candidate will be a seasoned professional with first-hand knowledge of the business needs and goals of the finance department and internal customers. Candidate will be a thoughtful leader with a sense of urgency and collaborative to be able to build strong relationships within the department and cross-functionally while ensuring business adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the efficient and productive day to day management of accounting team as well as month end closing reconciliations and serves as the backup support to Controller as needed during demanding times. The Accounting Manager works in partnership with all operational customers to facilitate proactive and efficient communication and execution of business plan objectives and provides leadership to the Accounting team. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: * Manage day-to-day accounting operations. * Manage general ledger accounting including A/P, A/R, and inventory. * Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements including appropriate analysis and advice on the results and their impact on the operations. * Ensure all internal accounting processes are timely and accurately completed. * Support tax-return preparation. Federal and state tax reports and payments and other tax returns, including annual 1099 forms. * Prepare schedules and provide records to auditing firms. Post adjusting entries and closing books at year-end. * Maintain required records, reports and files in an organized manner. * Assist with other special projects as assigned. * Other Responsibilities: * Manages document retention practices for department as determined by law and company policy. * Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates and department. * Keeps current on pending or changing accounting practices. * Participates in management team meetings and activities. Provides input to overall management strategies. May communicates with staff of Freixenet Spain and Freixenet Atlantic as needed. * Ensures that the FXUSA culture is consistently supported in all business and employee interactions, which includes both ethical and legal aspects. * Provides recommendations for continual development of staff to meet company’s short and long term goals focusing on methods to retain and grow staff in their current positions. Develops staff to be able to transfer to other functions or be promoted within the organization. * Performs human resources management tasks such as interviewing, performance appraisal, coaching and mentioning, performance improvement programs and employee satisfaction/retention, complying with federal and state employment laws and FXAM company policies and procedures.
Ideal Candidate
Professional Experience : * A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. * A minimum of 6-8 years related experience in accounting in the wine or manufacturing industry. * Strong desire to set standards and improve upon and support best practices in all facets of the business. * A professional and positive attitude; excellent judgment and problem solving skills to align systems and processes to outcomes. A strong desire to succeed in achieving results. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Demonstrated ability to work as a proactive self-starter with the capability of managing details, balancing multiple demands, prioritize tasks and retain clear focus. * A sense of urgency in addressing issues. Ability to organize and meet deadlines for a wide variety of job assignments. * The ability to effectively work within a team environment. Maintain a positive, supportive, cooperative, proactive and can-do attitude towards work and co-workers in fulfilling the mission of the company.
