Responsibilities
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Patrick J. Paddison in the Human Biology Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC). The Paddison Lab using functional genetic approaches in mammalian stem cell model systems to uncover determinants of cell identity, self-renewal, and differentiation. This position will have a dual focus on basic biology and clinical translation of molecular vulnerability of human brain tumors, which will build on results of comprehensive RNAi and CRISPR-Cas9 screening in Glioblastoma stem-like cells (GSCs) and non-neoplastic neural stem cells (NSCs). This position will require contributions both as an individual and as part of a larger team, as well as mentorship to junior lab members. The Paddison lab has broad expertise in functional genomics, stem cell biology, and molecular biology, and provides a vibrant research environment for career advancement toward top-tier academic or industry positions. This position will be supported by NIH-R01-CA190957 and a multi-year grant from the Robert J. Kleberg, Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation.
Ideal Candidate
To be considered the successful candidate must have: * A PhD, MD or equivalent (or be nearing completion), ideally in the areas of biochemistry, cancer biology, cell biology, developmental biology, molecular biology or related field * Strong publication record * Expertise in cancer biology, cell biology, and/or therapeutic discovery * Experience with model mammalian systems (murine, stem cells, etc.) is strongly desired, but not essential * Experience with functional genetic techniques (shRNA or CRISPR/Cas9) is strongly desired * Experience with manipulating and interpreting deep-sequencing data sets
