Director, Commercial Underwriting

Primary responsibility to direct and lead our efforts to grow our light commercial products line of business.

Position will maintain underwriting quality standards and ensure customer satisfaction. Compile, develop, and verify information necessary for rendering an underwriting decision. Investigate and analyze loss history, evaluate hazards and exposures and other pertinent data necessary for correctly pricing and evaluating risks. Work with agents to develop and submit business to target markets for placement. Follow submissions through the process to assure quotes are provided in a timely manner and negotiate with all parties involved. Coordinate and handle administrative workflows in conjunction with support team(s) to establish accurate and prompt response to service issues.

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience * 5 plus years' successful commercial underwriting experience * Strong knowledge and experience of property and casualty insurance including coverages, rating, terminology and technical procedures * Excess/Surplus experience is a must * E&S Broker License required * Demonstrated ability to solve problems * Idea leader - formulate multiple new ideas and implements * Proven ability to exceed performance expectations and create value for consumers
