Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant maintenance, ensuring the safe and efficient operations of all equipment, processes, and building systems, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
* Coordinating all aspects of maintenance work, including appropriately prioritizing, establishing programs that provide for timely and accurate repair of equipment, building systems, process, calibration of instruments, and making program changes and adjustments as needed on all process control systems. * Reviewing and recommending equipment changes, including assisting in the design and installation of new equipment and control systems. * Performing system repairs, including being available for emergency call in, as needed. * Purchasing repair parts and the installation of systems * Assisting with development of safety programs and managing the completion of items from inspections and the safety event spread sheet * Evaluating processes and methods to be able to recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, utilization of people and quality of product. * Providing basic training to operators and maintenance staff regarding the operation and trouble shooting of process controllers and instrumentation. * Prioritizing, scheduling and performing work assignments in a manner that maximizes efficiency and reduces equipment down time. * Training and delegating routine tasks to qualified maintenance staff. * Performing appropriate data entry, record keeping and process monitoring functions according to established procedures. * Reporting and recording deviations from specified operating parameters and “critical control points.” * Participating on Continuous Improvement of the Process and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Teams as assigned. * Maintaining departmental housekeeping and plant sanitation at a level that meets or exceeds Foremost Farms USA and regulatory standards, including complying with all safety and Good Manufacturing Practices rules and regulations. * Serving on Plant Safety Committee, including attending company sponsored HACCP and Safety Training programs as assigned. * Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace. * Timely and accurate completion of duties. * Occasional travel for work, up to 33% of the time. **Supervisory Responsibilities:** This position directly supervises hourly maintenance positions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

**Required Competencies:** * **Computer Skills:** Ability to operate all information technology related business systems, programs and applications in a manner that achieves efficiency, accuracy, and relevancy of information processing and reporting as it applies to this position. * **Language Skills:** Ability to read and interpret documents such as dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies and various documentation, paying particular attention to grammar. Ability to process routine reports and correspondences. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, suppliers, vendors and others, maintaining a positive, professional working relationship with all. * **Mathematical Skills:** Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. * **Reasoning Ability:** Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. * **Other Skills & Abilities:** Requires the ability to work with PLC’s and SCADA software. Knowledgeable in flow, temperature, pH and conductivity control devices. Must have the ability to drive a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to assist management personnel with procedure/form and program development. **Physical Demands/Work Environment:** * **Physical Demands:** Employee is continuously (more than 67 to 100%% of time) required to: use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, sit; to verbally communicate; and to hear. The employee is occasionally (up to 33% of the time) required to sit, crawl, stoop, climb, balance, walk and stand. The employee must occasionally (up to 33% of the time) lift and/or move up to 55 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. * **Work Environment:** The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles caustic chemicals and high precarious places. The noise level is usually moderate to loud. * **Protective Equipment:** This position may need personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the job being performed, such as hearing protection, food safety clothing and other. **Education & Experience:** * This position requires an Associate Degree in maintenance technology, control systems or related field of study, or some college coursework and three to five years of job-related experience. * The preferred education and experience requires a Bachelor Degree in maintenance technology, control systems or related field of study, knowledge related to the job and three to five years of job-related experience.
