Summary
Product Development (PD) engineers are responsible for delivering exciting products that are world class in cost, quality, function and time to market. As one team, we are committed to delighting our customers and employees by executing consistently while using common global standards, methods and processes with rigor and discipline.
Responsibilities
* Development of software security specifications and static and dynamic software tools as needed * Assist with architecture process creation and product development security program creation * Support major product programs/features with security needs * Collaborate on Advanced Engineering projects with outside partners in academia, government, or internal Ford teams * Assist Product Development in proof-of-concepts with new features and technology related to security * Respond to security events and provide incident response investigation as required * Development of security requirements and design validation methodologies (DVM). * Execution of DVM’s to confirm cyber-security compliance on new vehicle programs * Limited traveling required (conferences, regional team meetings, government/academia visits, etc.)
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering or related technical field of study * 2+ years of experience in secure coding (Work or educational) * 2+ years of programming experience with an embedded programming language. (Minimum C/C++) **Preferred Qualifications:** * Strong communication and analytical skills * Ability to work independently, take follow-up on project deliverables, go above and beyond the task at hand * Familiarity with general IT or Product Security and Architecture Concepts, processes, and methods * Strong software architecture, secure coding and supplier management experience * Understanding of architecture, development, design principals a plus * Understanding and experience in embedded and/or automotive systems. * Ability to work well in a small team and be flexible enough to work on any aspect of the project as needed * Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation as required * Familiarity with Threat Modeling and Risk Management * Familiarity with in-vehicle network architecture, modules, and protocols (CAN etc.) * Electrical or System Engineering background will be a plus for module-related work * Penetration testing and tools experience
