Summary
FMC Technologies Schilling Robotics is currently seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to work out of the Davis, CA office. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing insight into design, functionality, and process definition with an eye towards scalability. They must demonstrate excellent process and project management skills to function effectively with peers and the senior management team.
Responsibilities
* Design subsystems, assemblies and their components to meet customer and internal requirements within budget and schedule constraints. * Create bills of materials and oversee creation of drawings to support new designs. * Prepare stress analysis, hydraulic diagrams, test criteria, and critical assembly instructions. * Analyze design reliability, serviceability and manufacturability. * Provide support to other departments such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service. * Provide guidance for designers and other engineers on design tasks, as needed. Function as lead on tasks of moderate complexity. * Collaborate with other mechanical, electrical and software engineers on detailed design work and work with sales and marketing on product research and definition. * Recommend improvements to engineering policies and establish new procedures as needed. * Perform engineering duties at customer sites, or offshore when required. * Provide leadership for technical discussions and mentoring of less experienced engineers. * Other duties, as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering discipline * 10 or more years of experience in machine design * 5 or more years of experience in product development * 2 or more years of experience as a technical lead on engineering development projects * A firm understanding of mechanisms * Proficient in 2D and 3D modeling software, SolidWorks preferred * Advanced analytical skills in structures, kinematics, and FEA * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Experience in design of remote equipment for harsh environments * Experience in design of hydraulic actuators and components * System level design experience
