Civil Field Technician

FTCH is seeking a full-time temporary Civil Field Technician/Inspector to work in the South Bend area for a limited term on a project in SW, Michigan. The position could become full time if willing to travel. The primary duties of this position include field observation and documentation of construction contractors' activities for conformance with contract requirements. Applicant must be willing to travel and work in an outdoor environment. This is a great opportunity to get experience on a variety of projects and develop a career in field inspection.

• Prepare daily reports detailing the status of the work, including confirmation of work completed available resources and jobsite conditions.
• Assists in documenting that construction adhere to the design requirements.
• Assists with any Request for Information
• Works closely with experienced inspectors and engineers to verify and document proper execution of project designs.

Physical Requirements Ability to stand and sit as needed on project sites.

• Ability to drive a motor vehicle to reach work sites; ability to maneuver project sites with uneven terrain.
• Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate.

Desired Education:

• Associates Degree or Equivalent Experience

Requirements:

• AS degree in civil engineering technology or construction preferred.
• Bridge construction experience preferred.
• Experience with or knowledge of MDOT documentation requirements and Field Manager/Fieldbook is a plus.
• Previous experience involving field inspection is preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record and be available for occasional travel, long hours, and weekends.
• Ability to communicate effectively, follow direction, and work independently.
