FTCH is seeking a full-time Civil Field Technician/Inspector to join our Novi office. The primary duties of this position include field observation and documentation of MDOT road or bridge construction contractors' activities for conformance with contract requirements. Applicant must be willing to travel and work in an outdoor environment. This is a great opportunity to get experience on a variety of projects and develop a career in field inspection.

* Prepare daily reports detailing the status of the work, including confirmation of work completed available resources and jobsite conditions. * Documentation of construction activities; measurement, computation and documentation of work items completed and materials incorporated into the project; oversee construction activities for adherence to design requirements and contract documents. * Assists with any Request for Information.

* Minimum Physical Requirements * Ability to stand and sit as needed on project sites. * Ability to drive a motor vehicle to reach work sites; ability to maneuver project sites with uneven terrain. * Ability to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate. Desired Education: * Associates degree or equivalent experience Desired Degree * Civil Engineering Technology/Construction Requirements: * AS degree in civil engineering technology or construction preferred. * 5 years or more of previous work experience involving field inspection is desired; a minimum of 1 year of previous experience involving field inspection specifically on MDOT or MDOT Local Agency projects is required. * Experience with or knowledge of MDOT documentation requirements and Field Manager/Fieldbook is a plus. * Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record and be available for occasional travel, long hours, and weekends. * Ability to communicate effectively, follow direction, and work independently. * Experience utilizing Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.
