Summary
Fenix International is looking for a talented self-starting electrical engineer to join the Fenix team in designing new products and enhancing our current products. The ideal candidate would have 4+ years experience as an electrical engineer working on a consumer product that has achieved medium or high volume production. In this role you would be the lead electrical engineer on Fenix’s new product development team. You would work closely with product managers and firmware engineers to define firmware features and requirements. Optionally, this position may include a direct firmware development component if of interest to the candidate.
Responsibilities
* Develop electrical architectures for smart solar rechargeable battery systems. * Create mixed-signal schematics from the ground up for new products. * Layout or work with team to layout PCBs and procure prototypes. * Bring-up and bench verify initial prototypes. * Work with firmware engineers to specify firmware requirements and validate system. * Define test procedures in partnership with manufacturing team. * Support creation of field service protocols and procedures.
Ideal Candidate
**Required Skills & Experience** * Required Skills & Experience * Ideally 4+ years experience as an electrical engineer and experience working with a product in volume production. * Embedded development experience (microcontrollers, SPI, UART, I2C, USB). * Design and implementation experience with DC switching regulators. * Solid understanding of analog and mixed signal design principles. * Reasonable EE breadth and expertise (op-amps, parasitics, PCB design, high speed design, etc.). * Experience or at least a working knowledge of embedded firmware development. * BS or greater in EE or similar discipline. * Excellent communication skills. **Desired Skills** * Familiarity with low power circuit design and battery charging. * Proficiency in Eagle or Altium schematic capture and circuit board layout. * Programming skills in high level object oriented languages (Java, Python, etc). * Passion for designing low-cost design for developing world products. * Strong C programming ability, and prior work with microcontrollers.
